It will be up to one of them to contact us when you have died. When we have confirmed that fact, after legal checks, we will email each of your chosen recipients. In that email will be a website connection which they click on and which will allow them access to your internet legacy of documents, photographs and video messages.

Think of your Online Memorial account as a virtual-reality safe with a combination lock. Inside you can store items locked away safely and securely – only you have the combination to open it. You choose who will receive the combination on your death. Only then will they be able to see what's inside. You can also open an online Book of Condolence which will allow people from around the world to enter their own tribute or message of sympathy of up to 100 words. Friends and family may be spread all around the world but they can still share their feelings of loss, and the cherished memories of someone who was dear to them, by contributing to the Book of Condolence.

Unlike local or national newspapers which offer expensive text messages of just a few dozen words at most, which appear for just a day, an obituary at mylastemail.com will be visible all around the world and will appear online for at least one month. Our cheapest plan offers you a text-only obituary of up to 200 words which will appear online for a month – accessible around the world – for just £4.97. For only £14.97 you can choose an online obituary lasting a month with up to 300 words of text, three photographs and a video clip. That's a service no newspaper can match.

The maximum length of time term we offer for an Online Obituary is one year but at the end of your subscription period you can renew your subscription and have the obituary run online for as many times as you wish.

All you need to do is decide what sort of obituary you want – do you want to include a photograph or video clip for example – how long you want it to appear for, and if you would like to open an online Book of Condolence. Once you have decided, just click on the box next to the service which you require.

If you have the material for the obituary already prepared to upload to our website – text, photographs or video clip – then, once you have paid for the plan you have chosen, just follow the instructions and then click the PUBLISH button. Your material will then be published on to our website and be available to be seen around the world. Once it is published it cannot be altered – so please make sure that you have checked the details and everything is correct and as you would like it to appear, before selecting PUBLISH.

If you want to take some time to think about creating the material for the obituary before publishing it – that's no problem. Just select and pay for your plan and then click on SAVE AS DRAFT . The material you upload to us will be saved but not published on the website. You can use your password to log on to mylastemail.com and make any alterations you like to the material until you are completely satisfied with it and only then click PUBLISH. You can take as much time as you like but please remember that if, for example, you choose a subscription lasting a month that period starts from the moment when you open and pay for your plan not when the material is published.
